Welcome to Saskia Sport!
I created this profile so that you could get to know me and why I am so passionate about Health Fitness, and Sport Performance. As a child I excelled at soccer and swimming in primary school, and was always the best student and athlete in my class. I was often in trouble because I was such a great athlete and often, I ended up playing soccer with the boys. My Mother and Grandmother did not like that!
My mother didn’t know what to do with me because I was always sneaking out to play sports. I was hyper active and always had to be on the go. I was fearless and would play or try any sport.
During my childhood, even though I was good in school, I had so much energy I was always getting into mischief. If I wasn’t doing mischief, I would be entering beauty contests, dancing, and playing my sports against older boys.
Because I was independent I would leave the house for many hours. My mother would discipline me for this, but I did it anyway.
I had a nice childhood, but was surrounded by many dangers, for not being in a solid family. My father was in the military and was killed in a terrorist attack when I was 3 years old. I really missed my biological father, and often acted out.
At 12 I left Huanuco, a part of Peru that is between the mountains and forest. My mother married a good man who was in law enforcement and I gained a step sister as well. She has a son, who is now in college studying to be an engineer.
I continued to excel in sport and academics in high school, and was always the top student and athlete. I was awarded a scholarship to study abroad, but decided to stay in my beloved Peru and earn my degree in Physical Education and Sport.
I was already the junior national champion in the 400m in Lima Peru. Our team was the strongest swim team. I was the top student athlete in college, and started doing work study programs. I actually worked two jobs most of the time, including teaching school.
Even though I had great potential, I did not have the time nor the money to follow my dream of reaching the Olympic tryouts.
In 2001 I came to a gym and tried many different sports, including wrestling. A friend of mine invited me to try weightlifting…and soon I was totally hooked!
I trained to improve my physique, because I had always been thin, and wanted to gain more muscle mass in my legs and buttocks. The only sport that worked for me was bodybuilding.
In 2005 I decided to coach myself and entered local contests in Lima.I was always independent, and lived my life differently. Rather than go to parties on the weekend, I trained and competed.
In 2007 I won a national championship in body fitness.
After winning the nationals, I decided to stop the body fitness competitions, because they were so expensive. Even so, I trained hard after work and dreamed of competing at a higher level.
In 2009 I created Saskia Sport because so many individuals were asking me for help with their training, or which supplements they should use to be successful. Also, it helped to finance my competitions, which were very expensive.
I further advanced my training and consulting base by studying to become an expert in Sport Nutrition, Supplementation, and Pharmacology.
In 2010 I decided to compete one more time in Body fitness. I won the nationals again, and at that point I said goodbye to body fitness.
I then decided to go for the South American championship. I was already becoming more muscular, so I chose to compete in Womens Bodybuilding.
In 2012 I competed for Peru in Uruguay and won the gold.
In 2013 I competed for Peru and won the gold in the South American Championship in Bolivia.
In 2014 I was named the only woman to represent South America at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio.
To support all of my competitions I opened my own business in personal training, sports supplements, and elite training gear. I am known though out South America and now the US as one of the leading experts on sports training and supplementation.
I live my life for Sport Fitness and the joy of seeing others like yourself achieve your dream. I spend my days now training for my next competition and seeking support for Saskia Sport so that I can reach and inspire other struggling athletes, especially girls and women that have to overcome extra obstacles due to the fact that they do not fit the typical fragile female stereotype.
With your help and support, together we can achieve success!
This is a short video that shows my journey to the top of Female Bodybuilding in South America!
